Ratings & maturity
BDXV is the first wine company to launch a comprehensive rating system of both the wines we sell and each individual wine producer. Wine producers are rated to determine and analyze the future quality and brand potential of each producer to better see who will become future leading fine wine companies. Each producer is rated on a 100-point scale, where the quality of each 5 last vintages counts for 20% of the score. A comprehensive maturity guide for each wine produced by these fine producers are also offered as part of our services.
Chateau ranking system
The BDXV chateaux ranking system has been analyzed and compiled over 5 years and is based on a combination of the following:
- Market analysis by BDXV and ratings by BDXV and the two independent wine journalists: Jancis Robinson (UK) and Robert M. Parker, Jr (US)
- Consistent quality and aging potential for the last 5 vintages
- The Château's people, vision, investments, distribution and brand positioning strategy
- Wine availability
BDXV Top Bordeaux Chateaux has been created to help you make better wine investment decisions and to have a better understanding and knowledge of each individual Chateaux.
BDXV.com
Our wine portal contains a wealth of information on the producers, the chateaux, their people and their wines. The portal is complete with ratings, reviews, recommendations, investment valuations, online interviews and anticipated maturity.
Quality guarantee
Fine wines are a highly fragile commodity and BDXV guarantees that all wines sold have been stored in the producer’s (or BDXV’s) cellars since they where bottled. Most wine retailers today buy and sell wine from brokers in London - who in turn buy and sell from other brokers in New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo resulting in the customers not having a guarantee on how many times the wine has been shipped around the world and stored in sub-optimal facilities.
BDXV's state-of-the-art temperature and humidity controlled warehouse in Bordeaux has storage capacity of 5 million bottles.
Banker’s guarantee
The wines that BDXV purchases en primeur are backed by a banker’s guarantee from a leading bank in France (e.g. BNP Paribas). BDXV will provide our clients with ownership documents for the en primeur wines they purchase. These ownership documents will reference the Banker’s Guarantee. This protects our customers against unforeseen incidents.
AXA Insurance
All clients' wines stored in the BDXV warehouse in Bordeaux are stored in the individual client's name and fully insured by AXA Insurance France. BDXV is probably the only company in the world that provides insurance certificates to individual clients for their wines stored with us.
Selling your wines
BDXV Marketplace allows clients to sell their wines through BDXV.
Because we need to guarantee the past storage conditions of the wines we sell, only wines that have been stored with BDXV since the time of purchase are eligible to be listed in BDXV Marketplace. Other terms and conditions may apply.
